These days there are soooo many ways to earn extra money — from side hustles to full-time work-from-home careers.
If you’re determined to change your circumstances, and you’ve got a positive attitude, there’s no reason you can’t overcome whatever obstacles life throws at you.
After her marriage ended, Cindy had some tough decisions to make. She needed to work from home so she could homeschool and take care of her son who has special needs. Thanks to Work-At-Home School, she discovered she has options — and her confidence has soared!
Keep reading to hear more about Cindy’s story.
Q: Hi, Cindy! Tell us a little about your background. What did your life look like before Work-At-Home School?
Before Work-At-Home school, I was a stay-at-home homeschool mom who relocated from the amazingly beautiful Puerto Rico to breathtaking North Carolina. I left my family and friends and a 15+ year career as a teacher due to my husband getting transferred.
In the summer of 2017, my life was flipped upside down again, but this time because my marriage of twenty years came to an end. Now I was a single mom to a special needs child with important decisions to make. One of those decisions was how to earn money while staying at home with my son. And God led me to Caitlin Pyle and Work-At-Home School.
Q: I’m so glad He did! 🙂 What action(s) did you take as a result of being in Work-At-Home School?
I can’t describe in words exactly how it happened, but I CAN say, I became a new woman.
Understandably, when you are going through breakups and changes, you tend to easily feel overwhelmed, hopeless, and confused. WAHS gave me something you can’t put a price tag on, and that’s clarity and options. It gave me the confidence, roadmap, and tools to make that dream a reality. As a result of Work-At-Home School, I was able to find clients and work at home as a virtual assistant.
Q: That’s awesome. It’s a good feeling to know that there are options available if you want to change your life. What was your favorite course or resource from Work-At-Home School and why?
Oh, wow! All of the courses were amazing and a great source of information for the niche or field they were about. But to be honest, I had three favorite courses: Eileen Wilder’s Ultimate Confidence course, Ashley Gainer’s Freelance Writing from A to Z, and Angie Nelson’s The Work at Home Wife. These courses fueled my curiosity and reinforced the fact that working from home was definitely what I wanted to do.
Note from Caitlin: The courses included in Work-At-Home School may change from year to year. See what courses are included this year here!
Q: Excellent choices! What was the most challenging part of getting started?
The most challenging part of getting started was shifting my money mindset. I had the passion and the willingness to learn and trust the process, but investing in myself was a challenge. Due to the separation, my funds were limited, and I was terrified of investing in WAHS and not being able to recoup the cost and have success. Once I worked on my money mindset, enrolling in WAHS was a no-brainer decision.
Q: So many people have money mindset issues! What a lot of people don’t realize is that money is a renewable resource. When they figure that out, everything changes! What is the most valuable thing you learned from taking Work-at-Home School?
We are all different and have different needs. But for me, especially going through a period of time of pain and uncertainty, I found valuable being presented with endless possibilities of what I could do to earn money from home. Before enrolling in WAHS, I knew of one way, a popular way, to earn money working from home. Thanks to WAHS, I was taught how I could use my skills and have multiple sources of income, maybe as a freelance writer, proofreader, blogger, transcriptionist, etc.
Q: Exactly! Many people start with one skill and add more as time goes on. How long did it take you to find your first client? And how many clients do you have now?
Something amazing about this community is the power it has to provide a platform for members to interact virtually with game-changers, go-getters, and entrepreneurs and be inspired by them. In that life-changing community, I met my two clients (now friends and mentors), for whom I’m working from home as a virtual assistant, and I couldn’t be happier. It all happened in a time span of around six months.
Q: How long did it take you to recoup the cost of the course?
I invested approximately $1,500 in Work-At-Home School and in another course I had my eye on, also from Caitlin Pyle. I work part-time for my two clients, and that first month working for them, I earned $1,200.
Let’s remember… I’m working part-time, homeschooling my son, and also learning new skills. I just got paid $1,500 from one of my clients this month. Did I recoup the cost of the course? Yes, and more!
Q: That’s awesome. You’re killing it, Cindy! Would you recommend Work-At-Home School? Is it worth the money?
I would not only recommend Work-At-Home School, I encourage people to join. It is worth every cent and every minute you spend there. It is not just giving you facts and theory and hoping you make it. These experts are invested in helping you succeed.
WAHS gave me options. Before I enrolled, working from home was a dream I had that no one else I knew did. After I enrolled, it became my reality. The outcome of getting clarity when I needed it the most… priceless!
Q: What does your life look like now?
Thanks to Work-At-Home School, and of course, my two amazing, rock star clients, I’m able to stay home and continue to homeschool my son, learn new skills, and be the woman I always wanted to be. I’m getting my mojo back, that feeling of being independent and confident. I can work from anywhere, at any time, in my PJs and messy hair bun if I want to.
But most importantly, hearing my son say that he is grateful and proud of how hard I work to be home with him and still be able to provide financially, warms my heart. Again, worth every cent, minute, tear, and sweat. No regrets!
Q: Aww, that’s so sweet! Sounds like you’re raising a good boy! Is there anything else you’d like to share with the WAHS community?
I would like to encourage anyone that joins the Work-At-Home School to trust the process. We come into WAHS with so many fears, what-ifs, and preconceived notions of what things should be like, that sometimes we block the opportunities.
I was able to succeed because I took being part of the community seriously. I celebrated every time a member had an accomplishment. And I felt free to ask and learn from Caitlin and her team. Knowing that you become like the five people you hang with the most, I made it my mission to interact daily, knowing their knowledge, positive energy, and confidence will rub off on me. I’m glad I did!
